Love & Yum!

Healthy & Delicious Food for Families.

Post Holiday Detox

Post Holiday Detox

Feeling sluggish after all those hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers, ice cream and beer? I hear ya! I’m putting myself (and my family) on a post holiday detox…

TO get started on our week-long Detox we need WATER – lots of it. My husband was actually the one to remind me of this. I add cucumber, lemon and mint for an antibacterial, antibiotic and anti inflammatory kick!

There’s only so much water I can drink – so, I brewed up some Iced Detox Tea (for adults only) to supplement:

FullSizeRender

  • Boil 6 cups of water
  • Pour into heat resistant vessel (like a glass jar)
  • Add 4 – 6 tea bags my mix: Green tea, herbal (peach passion, raspberry leaf, hibiscus, fennel, dandelion root)
  • Let steep – stirring frequently for 10 minutes
  • Add 1 tablespoon local honey and fill with ice – Serve over ice and refrigerate for later
  • Drink 3 – 5 times per day

This tea will give us energy, hydration, and will help move all of the toxins out of our bodies quickly 🙂

Okay, now we ALL need to cut some things out of our diets for at least 1 week –

NO:

  • Refined sugar
  • Fried foods
  • Dairy (*a little parmesan and goat cheese is okay)
  • Non-organic wheat
  • Wine & beer – I really should cut out all alcohol, but a little rose spritzer never hurt anyone! DETOX COCKTAILS?
  • Fatty meats – no pork

What we’re eating this week:

Our bodies needs food that is rich in nutrients and easy to digest – whole grains, lean protein, fresh veggies & fruit, and a good variety – to get back on track. We’ll also take our probiotics, fish oil, extra vitamin C & calcium. We got a LOT of vitamin D yesterday – maybe a little too much 🙂

If you need a DETOX, for any reason – this is a good place to start!

Wishing you lots of love & yum,
