Gus’s New England Lobster Boil Recipe

My buddies at Gus’s Seafood in Harrison, NY serve and sell the best fish in Westchester County! After my recent trip to New Orleans, I’ve been looking up the best crawdad and lobster boil recipes… this is by far the BEST recipe I’ve found. Enjoy!

Gus’s New England Lobster Boil Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 8 small potatoes
  • 13 ounces kielbasa, cut on the bias into 2-inch pieces
  • 2 ears corn, cut into thirds
  • 3 pounds clams
  • 12 ounces beer
  • 2 1 1/4 pound lobsters

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large stockpot, melt butter over medium high heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and sweat until translucent, about 6 minutes.
  3. Add potatoes and kielbasa and stir to combine.
  4. Add corn, clams and beer and bring to a simmer.
  5. Once beer is simmering, add lobsters to pot and cover tightly with a lid.
  6. Cook until clams are open and lobster is bright red, about 18 minutes.
  7. Remove lobster from pot, crack claw and slice in half.
  8. Place potatoes, kielbasa, corn and clams in a large serving dish.
  9. Taste cooking liquid and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  10. Serve with cornbread, green salad and lemon wedges and drawn butter for dipping.
